Our Intention
Of the top 100 grossing films of 2019, only 10.7% of their directors were women, and 24.3% of their producers were women.* The film industry desperately needs more artists with diverse voices in gender, race, LGBTQ+, and background experience to create the collective cultural experience that is film. Purple Magnet Productions is founded and owned by two women from the South, committed to the much needed movement for inclusion of diverse voices in the film industry, and to the most kind, ethical, and supportive practices possible in making movie magic.
Maggie and Lauren made films together in undergrad at The University of Alabama, and have now been successful in the film industry for over 4 years. In a mutual desire to have the resources to create projects they are passionate about sharing with the world, they decided to join forces as Purple Magnet Productions. Their intent is to create content that inspires people, shares unique voices, and energizes the creative community.
